Ernest Ortega is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Towerstream Corporation. Mr. Ortega was named to his current position in January 2017. In addition to this, his charter was to develop and implement a new strategic approach for Colt that would enable them to grow their $1.6B base of revenue. Prior to that, he held a similar role at Cogent as their Chief Revenue Officer where he was responsible for the growth of Cogent's $400M revenue stream. Previous to these roles, Mr. Ortega spent 14 years at XO Communications where he held various leadership positions most recently as their Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing. In this role, Mr. Ortega was responsible for the growth of XO's $1.6B revenue stream.
He also held various senior management roles at MCI prior to this which began his 29-year career in the telecommunications industry.
Arthur G. Giftakis is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Towerstream Corporation. His current responsibilities include maintenance and advancement of the company's network development, customer acquisition and product oversight for Towerstream's On-Net building and wireless backhaul initiatives. Prior to his current role, Mr. Giftakis served as the Senior Vice President of Engineering and Operations. Mr. Giftakis’ technical vision has established Towerstream as the leader for fixed wireless services. Regularly described as a thought leader, he routinely speaks at industry events to share his knowledge and insight on topics including small cell, heterogeneous networks and the future of 5G. Prior to Towerstream, Mr. Giftakis was a Director at Sockeye Networks, a BGP optimization company that was acquired by Internap. He has over 20 years of experience in telecommunications and wireless infrastructure, having started his career with New England Telephone.
