FierceVoIP Honors Towerstream as One of the "Fierce 15" VoIP Companies of 2005
FierceVoIP Honors Towerstream as One of the "Fierce 15" VoIP Companies of 2005Middletown, RI – September 14, 2005 - Towerstream, the leading fixed wireless Internet provider and WiMAX Forum member, announced today that it has been named to FierceVoIP’s annual Fierce 15 list. This distinction honors Towerstream as one of the top 15 emerging companies implementing a VoIP solution for 2005. FierceVoIP, an internationally recognized email newsletter covering the voice over IP and IP telephony markets, evaluated hundreds of privately-held firms based on company vision, revenue potential, quality of deals, strength of technology, partnerships, and competitive market position.

The Fierce 15 celebrates the spirit of being "fierce" - championing innovation and creativity, even in the face of intense competition.

"By forming an alliance with Vonage, Towerstream showed that it has recognized the importance of offering a VoIP solution that provides business customers with reduced costs and quality service," said John Edwards of FierceVoIP. "Towerstream is also striking a blow to telcos and cable companies by providing an access alternative to small businesses."

Towerstream delivers reliable fixed wireless broadband to nearly 1,000 businesses in the New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston, San Francisco and Providence metropolitan areas. In August, Towerstream announced an alliance with Vonage to provide VoIP to its customers. Businesses can now receive a T1 with four Vonage lines for only $525 per month. Towerstream customers can choose from reliable T1 and 100 Mbps connections, more bandwidth on demand, wireless redundancy, VPNs, disaster recovery, bundled data, and video services.

"By offering our customers a VoIP solution over our fixed wireless broadband network and as a result of using it in our own office for years, Towerstream has experienced firsthand the value of alternative forms of broadband and phone service," said Jeff Thompson, COO of Towerstream. "FierceVoIP is recognized for its understanding of the impact of voice over IP technology. We are honored to be selected as a member of the Fierce 15."

Attendees at the wVoIP 2005 executive summit in San Jose, received a sneak preview of the list of winners at a reception held last night. The official list of all 15 winning companies along with descriptions about what makes them "Fierce" is available in today’s special issue of FierceVoIP and on the FierceVoIP Web site at http://www.fiercevoip.com/.
